Tomb Raider: Underworld is a side-scrolling action adventure game in which players assume the role of Lara Croft in her quest to rescue her missing mother. Players navigate through mythical islands and historical ruins by jumping from platform to platform, solving numerous puzzles along the way. Players fight various enemies (e.g., mercenaries, winged humanoids, and tigers), and in some cases, shoot to kill in order to progress through levels. Lara Croft often wears revealing clothing, including form-fitting wetsuits and tank tops. Expletives such as "damn" and "hell" can be heard in the dialogue.
