Le Conte de Despereaux is a side-scrolling action adventure game in which players assume the role of a young mouse named Despereaux. Players mostly traverse the environment (i.e., platforming) to collect various items and solve simple puzzles, while fighting various creatures, insects, and bosses along the way. Characters blink briefly and sometimes 'yelp' when hit.
