This is an irreverent side-scrolling action game in which players fight their way through a variety of enemies (e.g., humans, giant octopuses, insect robot bosses, suction machines, giants, etc.) by using weapons such as nightsticks, sushi, baseball bats, and (of course) vinyl records. Enemies are usually defeated by being smacked or "bonked" repeatedly, disappearing soon afterwards. Although players mostly jump and attack enemies, they can also help citizens in various Japanese cities or simply collect ingredients for cooking. Players can also interact with characters who tell jokes or are the butt of jokes (e.g., "So this guy walks into a bar…so this arsonist tried a dating service…" and "You just violated the Man Law"). One character uses the expletive "pissed" to describe his agitated state. Signs advertising alcohol products are depicted in the backgrounds of some levels; one character is repeatedly depicted with a cigar in his hand.
