This is a seek-and-find mystery game in which players assume the role of Sherlock Holmes as he, along with Dr. Watson, attempts to solve various crimes around London: dog-napping, theft, murder, forgery, etc. Players search for clues among scenes of jumbled objects, and are invited to solve the crimes through the hidden-object gameplay and puzzle-solving. Though some crimes involve murder, the still-screen images with narration generally depict the moments before and after death: figures getting punched, a man dragged then dropped into a pit, a person attacking with a knife, a chalk-outline of a body. In one stylized black-and-white sequence, a character writes a final message on the floor with his blood; in a color seek-and-find screen, players can click on a clue called "Drops of Blood." Among the dozens of searchable items, a handful of them include tobacco and alcohol products (liquor and brandy bottles, cigars, tobacco pouches, etc.); the game also depicts a character with a cigarette in his mouth, and a pipe icon with plumes of smoke.
