Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe’s The Premature Burial

This is a hidden-object adventure game in which players assume the role of characters tasked with solving a murder mystery. Players solve puzzles, collect clues, and search through screens of jumbled objects to advance the storyline. In one sequence, players use an ether-tipped dart to incapacitate a guard dog; in another, players use a whip to disarm a sword-wielding groundskeeper. One cutscene depicts a man holding a noose-shaped rope—the accompanying dialogue conveys the game's dark tone (e.g., “Don't try and stop me! I . . . I no longer wish to live.”). Some scenes also contain bloody handprints or words written in blood (e.g., “Die killer!”). A few screens contain alcohol- or tobacco-related products; in one puzzle, players advance by filling up a decanter with red wine.
