Rating Summary
This is an action platformer in which a bobcat-like creature (Ratchet) and his robotic sidekick (Clank) must thwart the plans of a robotic madman. As players traverse through colorful alien worlds, they use an assortment of “cartoony” weapons (e.g., fire whips, oversized laser blasters, rocket launchers) to defeat robots and alien spaceships. Most enemies disappear amid colorful bursts of light and/or scattered nuts and bolts; a few aliens emit splashes of goo or slime. In one cutscene, a monster's eyeball is crushed underfoot, resulting in similar goo/slime effects. During the course of the game, some suggestive jokes can be heard in the dialogue (e.g., “. . . A charity providing makeovers and buxom bimbos for needy people named Quark.”), and one sequence depicts female robots performing a suggestive dance routine. The game also contains instances of bathroom humor: a character holding his backside while a narrator says he “executed Emergency Response Plan Number Two”; players collecting “sewer crystals” (e.g., “Ahhh, fresh from the bowels of a King Amoeboid.”). In one cutscene, a robot is depicted smoking a cigar. A couple sequences contain censored/interrupted language (e.g., “What a load of bullsh—” and “That's it, Clank! Kick some—”).
