Rating Summary
This is an action-adventure game based on characters from the Spider-Man movie franchise. Players assume the role of Spider-Man as he attempts to protect the citizens of New York City from a dangerous biological threat. Players punch, kick, and use web-based attacks to defeat human enemies (e.g., armed thugs, violent mental patients), giant robot bosses, and Marvel-universe villains in melee-style combat. Battle cries, impact sounds, and realistic gunfire can be heard throughout; zoomed-in camera angles and slow-motion effects accompany various attack combos. Some cutscenes depict other acts of violence: scientists getting attacked by mutant creatures; a character screaming as he is injected with a syringe. The words “a*s” and “bastard” can be heard in the dialogue, in addition to some suggestive banter (e.g., “Well, good to know you like to be on top. I don't usually go this far on a first date.”).
