Skul: The Hero Slayer

This is a side-scrolling action game in which players control a skeleton battling monsters and heroes in order to save a world of monsters. As players traverse platforms and collect treasure, they use swords, magic, and whimsical attacks (e.g., electricity from a guitar) to defeat enemies (e.g., humans, monsters) in melee combat. Some enemies emit small puffs of blood when injured, and one boss character coughs up blood during a cutscene. Scenery/exit gates also depict blood stains. The word “a*s” appears in the game.
