Rating Summary
This is a narrative role-playing game, set in the 17th century, in which players assume the role of a pirate on a quest to find hidden treasure. From a 3/4-overheard perspective, players traverse environments, interact and recruit characters, and engage enemy soldiers and guards in turn-based combat. Battles are depicted on a hexagonal grid-like field, with players using a card menu and dice rolls to perform various actions (e.g., musket shots, weapon attacks, punches). Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire and cries of pain. A handful of sequences depict blood in the environment and underneath corpses. Stylized story panels depict additional acts of violence and blood: a pirate embedding a hatchet into a soldier's head, resulting in a large blood-splatter effect; blood splatter appearing as a sailor is shot; a character's hand chopped off. The word “f**k” appears in the game.
