Players solve puzzles, collect clues, and search through screens of jumbled objects to advance the storyline. In one sequence, players use an ether-tipped dart to incapacitate a guard dog; in another, players use a whip to disarm a sword-wielding groundskeeper. One cutscene depicts a man holding a noose-shaped rope—the accompanying dialogue conveys the game's dark tone (e.g., “Don't try and stop me! I . . . I no longer wish to live.”).
